Metairie Rotary hears how trained dogs help veterans
On a June 23rd luncheon meeting of the Metairie Rotary at Metairie Country Club, members were informed of a program that joins veterans with a trained service dogs to help them in their daily lives. Some of the canine assistance skills are vision, walking, fetching meds, keys or any other objects the veteran may need, or any jobs that are hard for the vet to do. The Veteran bonds with the dog, and has instant therapy and help.

Every week many dogs are bonded with their new owner and the vets  are able to go home with their dogs, right away. Ongoing training is also provided to veterans at the Companions for Life facility, located at the Jefferson Parish SPCA.
